A few years ago, I was inspired to get my appraisers licence. At the time, it was a month of classes and a state exam. Now I hear you need a 4 year degree. At any rate, I never did work as an appraiser but as it turned out, it was that education on my resume that was responsible for my getting this new job. Thank you! Part of my job finds me talking to real estate agents all over the country. It's a real eye opener when it comes to learning about the mortgage meltdown. There are areas of the country that have lost over 80% of their value in the past couple of years. Here in the twin cities, we have been more fortunate. We are showing signs of recovery, and the value loss has not been anywhere near as severe as other areas. The $8000.00 tax credit will be expiring at the end of November, so any first time buyers that would like to participate had better get busy.

This weekend I was reunited with my old college folk group at a cabin on White Iron Lake just outside Ely MN. We sat around the fire on the beach singing for friends old and new till the wee hours. For a few hours we were back in 1963 as we revisited all the old folk songs we used to do plus anything else we could think of. We ended the night with the song "Old Friends" by Simon & Garfunkel. And truly these were old friends. We hadn't sang together since college days. It sounds like this may become an annual event. I can hardly wait for next year.
